‘Nothing is free: OAP Dotun warns Nigerians following U.S. airstrikes in North West, says they will pay for it

pmnews, December 26, 2025

Nigerian on-air personality Dotun has shared a cautionary reaction following reports of United States–backed airstrikes on terrorist camps in North West Nigeria.

Dotun, reacting via social media, warned Nigerians against celebrating the development without considering possible long-term implications.

“Rejoice all you want but you might pay for that strike, one way or the other. Nothing is free,” he wrote.

His comment has since sparked debate online, with many Nigerians divided over the involvement of foreign powers in the country’s security operations

Recall that Intelregion earlier reported that the Federal Government of Nigeria confirmed ongoing security and intelligence cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, following airstrikes that hit terrorist targets in the North West.

According to an official statement released on Friday and signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the collaboration has resulted in “precision hits on terrorist targets” in the region.

While some Nigerians welcomed the airstrikes as a significant boost to the fight against terror groups such as ISIS, others echoed Dotun’s concerns, questioning the geopolitical cost, sovereignty issues, and potential future obligations tied to foreign military assistance.

Supporters of the collaboration argue that international intelligence and military support are crucial given the evolving tactics of terror groups.
