Martinelli breaks UCL scoring record as Arsenal stay perfect

pmnews, December 11, 2025

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has set a new UEFA Champions League scoring record for the club, after helping the Gunners to a commanding 3-0 victory over Club Brugge on Wednesday. The result maintains Arsenal’s status as the only team with a perfect record in the competition’s league phase.

Martinelli continued his impressive scoring run by netting Arsenal’s third goal in spectacular fashion. The Brazilian winger breezed past two defenders before curling a wonderful shot into the top corner from outside the box.

According to Opta, that goal made Martinelli the first-ever Arsenal player to score in five successive appearances in the UEFA Champions League. He is also the first Arsenal player to achieve such a streak in any major European competition since Thierry Henry in the UEFA Cup in April 2000.

The Gunners were set on their way by a brace from Noni Madueke. The English winger opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a superb individual effort, gliding past two defenders before smashing a strike in off the crossbar. He doubled the lead just 80 seconds into the second half with a simple header from Martín Zubimendi’s cross.

Mikel Arteta made five changes to the side that lost to Aston Villa, but his team controlled large periods of the match. The victory provides a timely boost ahead of a return to domestic football this weekend, where Arsenal will host winless Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.
