A viral video showing a gathering of prominent Yoruba kings at the Southern Governors’ Forum meeting in Ogun state has stirred reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning the body language and positioning of the monarchs, particularly the Alaafin.
The event, which was hosted by the Ogun state governor in his hometown, Iperu Remo, had all the Southern governors in attendance. Yoruba monarchs, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, and Oba Saheed Elegushi, among others.
In the clip, several traditional rulers were seen exchanging greetings and interacting with warmth, while the Alaafin of Oyo was spotted sitting slightly apart from the group. This sparked a wave of commentary from online observers who wondered why he appeared isolated.
Some viewers jokingly asked, “Why is Alaafin always on his own?” while others suggested it might simply be a momentary angle or a sign of royal composure. A few netizens also pointed out that different Yoruba monarchs maintain their unique protocols and personal spaces during public appearances.
