Arise TV journalist, Rufai Oseni, has sparked widespread reactions online following his comments about the Inspector General of Police in relation to the number of security personnel reportedly attached to President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
The remarks were made during an episode of Arise TV’s The Morning Show, where Rufai Oseni, alongside his colleagues Reuben Abati, Ojy Okpe, and another co-host, discussed the recent criticism raised by Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka over the security detail surrounding Seyi Tinubu.
In the viral clip referenced during the discussion, Wole Soyinka expressed strong displeasure after witnessing Seyi Tinubu’s convoy in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, describing the level of armed security as excessive for a private individual.
Soyinka went further to fault the heavy troop deployment, stating that the number of security operatives accompanying Seyi Tinubu was enough to suppress an insurrection in the neighboring Benin Republic.
While discussing the criticism surrounding Seyi Tinubu’s security arrangement with his colleagues on the show, Rufai Oseni stated that no one—not even the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has the authority to reduce the level of security attached to the president’s son.
He also went on to attack the paternal figure of IGP Egbetokun as he uttered, “Them nor born him papa well.”
Rufai Oseni further went on to shower encomium on Seyi Tinubu. He tagged the president son as the upcoming governor of Lagos State.
He said in Yoruba, “Okanlomo, ogo eko, gomina lola, Seyi Tinubu, I am not there, it is Dr Abatti that does know your worth.”
