Eedris Abdulkareem’s Facebook, Instagram accounts suspended after release of protest song, ‘Open Letter to Donald Trump’

pmnews, December 1, 2025

Veteran Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has raised alarm after his Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended shortly after he released a new politically charged track titled Open Letter to Donald Trump.

In a report published by SaharaReporters on Sunday, Abdulkareem revealed that he has been unable to log into either platform since the song dropped.

“Facebook just suspended my Facebook and Instagram account because of my new song, Open Letter to Donald Trump,” he said. “I can’t access it.”

A quick check confirmed that both accounts are currently inaccessible. However, Abdulkareem did not disclose whether Meta gave any explanation or indication of how long the suspension would last.

Released in November 2025 under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, Open Letter to Donald Trump is framed as a direct message to the former U.S. President. However, the rapper uses the track primarily to critique Nigeria’s political elite.

In the song, Abdulkareem accuses Nigerian politicians of enriching themselves at the expense of ordinary citizens, labeling them “criminals of all shades and hues.” He highlights issues such as severe economic hardship, worsening insecurity, kidnappings, killings, and acts of terrorism, problems he believes deserve global attention.

The new track continues Abdulkareem’s long-standing tradition of using music as a tool for activism: His 2004 classic Jaga Jaga sparked nationwide debate for its bold criticism of Nigeria’s social and political decay. Earlier in 2025, his song Tell Your Papa was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for what it called “objectionable lyrics,” restricting its airplay on radio and television.

Let hear you in the comment.
