‘This is mockery, not funny’: Comedian Trinity Guy’s latest skit video of being attacked by Fulani herdsmen sparks reaction

pmnews, November 28, 2025

Comedian Trinity Guy has come under heavy criticism online following the release of a new skit that depicts an attack by Fulani herdsmen.

The comedian, who recently made headlines after jumping on stage to meet Davido, sparked fresh controversy by using Nigeria’s insecurity crisis as the theme of his latest content.

In the skit, Trinity Guy is seen driving along a secluded road near the bush when he unexpectedly encounters Fulani herdsmen. He quickly reverses his car and begins speaking Hausa, a move that changes the situation in his favour.

Realising he speaks Hausa, the herdsmen engage him in a friendly conversation. Trinity Guy tells them he is travelling to Sokoto, which further endears him to them. In the skit, they even hand him a gun and show him how to use it.

Things take a dramatic turn when his phone rings and a ringtone in Yoruba language gives him away. The herdsmen then question his identity, and they suddenly turn hostile.

The skit ends with the herdsmen attacking him with a gun as he tries to flee, suggesting he is about to be kidnapped or killed an ending that has triggered backlash from viewers who described the content as insensitive and inappropriate given the country’s ongoing security challenges. See reactions and the video below;

queenolivee1 shared; “This is not funny at all. Catching cruise on other people tears blood? Some families are still mourning their love ones while others are running around looking for money to free their love ones from captive .”

rider_jojoo commented; “So everything don turn to comedy abi .”

knghonouredguy spills; “So for real… this is funny to you? While some families are u deep sorrow.”

omololaameen wrote; “I understand that we are naturally joyful people who use humor to cope with challenges, but when it comes to banditry, we must draw a clear line. Under no circumstance should such a serious issue be trivialized. No comic relief, no jokes, nothing about it is funny. I’m not a sad person, but we are living through a deeply sad and dangerous situation. While we hope the INCAPABLE government solve the situation, it is our role to be emotionally intelligent. A pastor died in captivity yesterday, nothing is funnny .”

talk2raw uttered; “Serious matter dey always turn to content and cruise…. people are getting killed. It’s not a funny situation biko. .”
